Is this black watercolor, Eva? It is beautiful. I like the feeling you achieved with this and will probably like it more once I learn more about Wounded Knee. The small hints of form at the bottom really support this wet in wet piece.

    • Yes, Leslis, this is black Yasutomo Sumi-e watercolor ‘laid’ on a clear water wash. The figures are outlined with Sakura black pen. I find the Japanese pigments absolutely wonderful for my style. This piece along with “We Will Dance!” and “Jourrney” were done to honor the approximately 300 children, women and men massacred at Wounded Knee on December 29, 1890.

Hey Eva, This is very atmospheric. I like the pen work on the bottom very much.
